More Americans are doing ‘the Google’ about themselves...
In that latest report from the Pew Internet and American Life Project:
-47% of U.S. adult Internet users have looked for information about themselves through Google or another search engine.
-Americans under 50 and those with more education and income were more likely to self-Google.
-53% of adult Internet users admit to looking up information about someone else (excluding celebrities).

Better late than never?
OBERLIN, Kansas (AP) - A postcard featuring a color drawing of Santa Claus and a young girl just arrived in northwest Kansas…a little late. It was mailed back in 1914. The Christmas card was dated December 23, 1914, and mailed to Ethel Martin of Oberlin, Kansas, apparently from her cousins in Nebraska.
The post office in Oberlin wanted to get the card to Ethel Martin. But, Ms Martin has past on…so the 93 year old card ended up with Bernice Martin, Ethel's sister-in-law.
The card was placed inside another envelope with modern postage for the trip to Oberlin - the one-cent postage of the early 20th century wouldn't have covered it, Martin said. Christian Resources International has launched the ‘Operation Bare Your Bookshelf’ campaign. The ministry says that the need for Bibles is great. About 250 requests a month from pastors and volunteers in developing countries request resources.
The resources include Bibles, concordances, basic reference and study materials, and other Christian books. Christian Resources International says that while most Americans own several Bibles, the average third-world village does not own a single Bible.

North Carolina’s original copy of the Bill of Rights will be on display at the Greensboro Historical Museum this weekend only. The 218-year-old document left the state in 1865. It was bought and sold among collectors, and finally returned to the state two years ago after an elaborate undercover FBI sting in 2003.

The City of Winston-Salem has dropped the ‘Holiday poll’ and will go back to a more traditional ‘live tree’ this Christmas. For the past three years, a tree-shaped light display has been used instead of a live tree…saving the city 18,000 but it never caught on with the public.

Lazy 5 Ranch petition

Some state and local governmental officials are pushing to ‘remove’ the land on which the Lazy 5 Ranch resides from agricultural status. If this change were to pass, the NC Department of Revenue would force the Lazy 5 Ranch to collect a 3% tax on the admission cost, plus pay for previous years when tax was not collected. This change would ultimately lead to the closing of the Lazy 5 Ranch.
